Nicki French

UNITED KINGDOM 2000

Don't Play that song again

It wouldn't be a Eurovision party if we didn't play that song again!

Nicki French needs little introduction as she has been the reigning queen of the UK Eurovision scene ever since she took to the stage in 2000 to represent her country!

Nicki was born in Cumbria and grew up in Tenterden, Kent. Before launching her solo career, she spent many years working as a backing singer and session vocalist.

In 1995, Nicki released her debut album, Secrets, which featured several Europop, Hi-NRG-style cover songs including "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and the Carpenters' "For All We Know." "Total Eclipse of the Heart" sold well, reaching number five on the U.K. Singles chart and number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S.

In 2000, Nicki proudly represented the U.K. in the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Don't Play That Song Again," ultimately finishing in 16th place. Since that time, she has appeared on television and on-stage, starring in productions of Cinderella and Annie: The Musical. Largely known for her club-oriented cover songs,

In the past few years, Nicki has been in demand for her acting, as well as her singing skills, and has managed to combine the two with some wonderful theatre roles, playing eight different parts in the UK tour of ‘Annie’; three of the four characters in ‘Menopause the Musical’ (UK & Ireland tours); Ethel Merman in ‘Gee, But It’s Good to be Here – An Audience With Ethel Merman’ (Trent House, Newcastle); Helga ten Dorp in ‘Deathtrap’ (Brookside Theatre, Romford); Sarah in ‘Dirty Dating.com’ (UK tour).  At the beginning of 2020 she began touring the UK as Power Woman in a brand new show - ‘Menopause the Musical 2 – Cruising Through Menopause’.

The tour is scheduled to restart in February 2022, but in the meantime we are thrilled to host her on the EuroStarz stage!

Once I had a dream
I thought we had everything
Living such a perfect life
We had it all
And our love took flight
Deep into the night

Now I'm alone again
But I'm... I'm gonna be strong
And the tears that I have cried
You'll never see
Oh... but crying in vain was never for me

Don't play that song again
Reminding me of how it used to be
Don't play that song again
I wish it could be like before
When you were here with me, oh yeah
Oh deejay, please don't play
Don't play that song again (song again)

Time, time changes everything
And that's what they say
But it's too late for regrets
When all's said and done
It just wasn't meant to be
Now I'm the lonely one

Don't play that song again
Reminding me of how it used to be
Don't play that song again
I wish it could be like before
When you were here with me, oh yeah
Oh deejay, please don't play
Don't play that song again

Don't play that song again
Reminding me of how it used to be
Don't play that song again
I wish it could be like before
When you were here with me, oh yeah
Oh deejay, please don't play
Don't play that song again (song again)

No... oh deejay, please don't play
Don't play that song again
That song again
Don't play that song again...
